Get ready for your students to have some fun! This is not your average St. Patrick’s Day writing assignment!

This highly engaging activity has students practicing their paragraph writing skills by using clues to retrace the footsteps of St. Patrick throughout Ireland. Students are highly motivated to produce their best writing in order to be the winners of the amazing race!

Students work together in partners or teams to figure out the answers to clues that lead them to the locations in Ireland. After finding each location, teams write a short paragraph describing the location in more detail and why it is significant to St. Patrick. They must submit the paragraph for approval before receiving their next clue and moving on in the race!

This activity works best if students have access to some sort of technology, such as a tablet or computer. It can be completed over a number of periods or over a lengthy chunk of the school day!
