Do you need a engaging, research based, way for your students to practice counting sets of objects, subitizing, and ten frames through 10 during computer lab or computer 1:1 time? Would you like for your students to use up to date technology while practicing these math skills? This is a great option for your early technology lessons with kindergarteners. They will catch on to this common core state standards aligned game quickly. They will also improve mouse control skills while improving subitizing and ten frame skills.

Are you looking for time saving, math activities to use with Google Classroom™ or Google Drive™? This self correcting interactive Google Classroom Activity meets these needs! Students will love the pirate theme.

Students will click on a symbol on the home page and be taken to a random slide with either a group of pirate ships to count or subitize or a ten frame on a pirate’s chest. Students will decide how many pirate ships or coins there are, record their answer if you would like them to, and check their work by touching or clicking their answer. If the student clicks on a correct answer, a slide with “Way to Go!” will pop up. If the student clicks on an incorrect answer a slide with “Try Again, You’ll Get It Next Time” will pop up.

Students can tally correct answers on the tally slide projected on an interactive white board, if you wish or you can copy the black and white points slide for students to use.

Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
