You can give your students the chance to practice the Pythagorean theorem or distance formula on a coordinate plane with this wonderful set of 20 task cards. These task cards all list two different points on a coordinate plane (points are labeled) and ask students to find the distance between the two spaces. Students need to use the Pythagorean theorem to form a triangle or use the distance formula to find that distance.
Use these task cards in centers, as a scavenger hunt, in groups, as a self-start, a fast finisher, or ticket to leave. Keep track of what types of problems the students struggle with so you know what to review. I like to laminate these task cards so that students can draw on them with dry erase markers and the cards can be reused.
