The Distributive Property can make multiplying a lot easier for many students. The Distributive Property is a way to get students starting to think about strategies they can use to solve multiplication problems mentally. Starting with multiplying single digit numbers and going through multiplying expressions involving variables and combining like terms. Not all levels are appropriate for all grade levels.
The first level or two would be appropriate for most 3rd graders.
Levels A-D are appropriate for most 4th graders.
Levels C and D are appropriate for most 5th graders.
Levels D and E are appropriate for most 6th graders.
Level E is the algebraic expressions level and would be good for any student having prior knowledge of variables and combining like terms.
Print these cards on cardstock paper or laminate for re-use. Cut out the cards prior to students using them because they are in the correct order.
