Distributive Property Detective

Do your students have difficulty with the distributive property of multiplication? It's always a given in my class. The kiddos get frustrated when we reach this topic… that’s why I developed the Distributive Property Detective. My kiddos enjoy the idea of pretending to be detectives so they really like applying this to the skill of Distributive Property.

This bundle includes an interactive notebook booklet that is instructional in nature. The booklet walks them step by step through examples of using the distributive property and then provides an opportunity for them to try as well. The booklet is great in introducing the concept.

Next, I've included a Math Station for extra practice. Students can draw multiplication facts from a bag and use the template inside a sheet protector with a dry erase marker for repeated practice.

Additionally, I've included some independent worksheets for students to practice.

Finally, I conclude this concept with the kiddos creating the fun Detective display. They will use the boy or girl template and apply the distributive property to a given fact or one that they have chosen. They have a great time creating the display and it gives them an opportunity to show what they know.
