About this resource :
This cooperative learning activity provides students with the opportunity to practice simplifying expressions using the distributive property. Students are grouped with a partner and take turns solving the problems and coaching one another.
This resource provides four options for differentiation by offering accelerated questions, standard questions, a hint card and a complete re-teaching card. Students of all abilities can complete the same activity using these options for differentiation.
Also included is an EDITABLE set of cards. This gives you the flexibility to increase/decrease the difficultly of both the regular cards and the accelerated cards but taking away the variables and/or adding in fractions, integers, decimals, combining like terms, etc.
What is reciprocal learning?
Reciprocal learning takes place when students work in pairs with one working to solve problems and the second being their coach. The teacher helps the coach when the problem solver gets stuck so the coach can in turn, help his or her partner. Reciprocal learning provides a fantastic opportunity for cooperative learning, skill practice and confidence building through peer teaching. CLICK HERE
