I have found that middle school students struggle with the distributive property. Therefore, I created this with several real-world examples that really helped my students understand the distributive property. Using real-world examples such as football, recipes and a combo meal, they got the concept much better. I also put a line for each step so they could see how to break each part down. Then I finished with some basic problems for extra practice. They really understood this lesson and it was successful in helping them understand this property of algebra. It has 10 problems including 4 word problems and 6 problems to just distribute and simplify.
