Product Description

Accredited a premium resource by SMART™.

This package of 4 lessons uses the SMART Board™ to encourage and guide friendly, open discussions about sexual orientation, gender, and homophobic bullying. Through these activities, students will consider multiple perspectives and concerns, learning how their actions may impact others and moving toward making their school a safe space for all students.

“That’s So Gay" SMART Board™ Classroom Activity
Students will become more aware of their language by being asked to identify which statements are insults and which are okay to say. They will drag situations to “Insult” “Okay” or “Neutral” and discuss their perspectives. The resource is adaptable, but mixes whole class and small group activities to encourage discussion at various levels.

Beyond Pink and Blue SMART Board™ Classroom Activity
This activity aims to break down the assumptions students hold about gender, roles, and stereotypes. Students will use the SMART Board™ to show that they agree, disagree, or are neutral on statements about men and women and discuss their choices. The resource is adaptable, but mixes whole class and small group activities to encourage discussion at various levels.

Taking it for Granted SMART Board™ Classroom Activity
This activity explores some of the actions that are difficult for gay, lesbian, and bisexual students that heterosexual students may take for granted. Students will decide if certain actions are easier for people in heterosexual or homosexual relationships, or equally difficult. The resource is adaptable, but mixes whole class and small group activities to encourage discussion at various levels.

Cool Scenes Diversity SMART Board™ Classroom Activity
This activity introduces students to different scenarios and asks whether perspectives are “cool” or “not cool.” This will promote a discussion on whether certain actions are homophobic. Can be used in small groups or as a class.
