THE BIG ORANGE SPLOT is a funny story about a man named Mr. Plumbean. Mr. Plumbean lives on a very neat street where ALL the houses look exactly the same. One day a seagull drops a can of orange paint on Mr. Plumbean’s roof. From that point on, nothing is the same in Mr. Plumbean’s neighborhood.
This lesson includes:
-A poster for display, discussion, and debate (the poster can also be used as part of a bulletin board display)
-Important student comprehension questions
-Coloring and transforming a "splot"
-Directions for composing a six-word essay (These essays are incredibly meaningful and showcase impressively with the art project.)
-Directions for the "I LOVE My House" art project. Kids ADORE this project! They will beg you to let them work and work and work. Best of all it requires only 1 sheet of white construction paper and lots of creativity and imagination!
