Description

Practice with dividing fractions is more engaging with this easy-prep fraction division color by number activity. Both print and digital versions are included.

In this dividing fractions activity, students solve each problem (in both versions), find the solution number on the coloring page/section and color it with the color indicated.

Check out the Preview and video demo above to see what's included and how the digital version works.

Problems require students to:

  • Divide fractions by fractions (10 problems)
  • Divide fractions by whole numbers or whole numbers by fractions (5 problems)
  • Divide fractions by mixed numbers or mixed numbers by fractions (4 problems)
  • Divide mixed number by mixed number (1 problem)

This easy-prep fraction division resource includes:

One print version

  • Problem sheet with 20 questions
  • Coloring sheet

One Google Slides version (also usable in PPT)

  • Same problems and mostly same coloring as print version
  • Students type their answers in the answer box
  • Students use the ‘Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
  • Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.

One coloring page with no numbers, so students can color the pattern their own way, for fun:-)

Interpret and compute quotients of fractions, and solve word problems involving division of fractions by fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem. For example, create a story context for (2/3) ÷ (3/4) and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient; use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (2/3) ÷ (3/4) = 8/9 because 3/4 of 8/9 is 2/3. (In general, (𝘢/𝘣) ÷ (𝘤/𝘥) = 𝘢𝘥/𝘣𝘤.) How much chocolate will each person get if 3 people share 1/2 lb of chocolate equally? How many 3/4-cup servings are in 2/3 of a cup of yogurt?
