I used this activity in all of my classes when exploring fraction division. It was so helpful for students to understand dividing with fractions by using manipulatives and drawing visual models. Each student would receive fraction manipulatives to explore. Then, they would draw a visual model based on the manipulatives. I modeled the first two problems together and then let the students work. This activity really helps students develop the conceptual understanding behind fraction division. They DO NOT need the "trick" for this activity - in fact, I encourage you not to teach the fraction division trick at all before using this activity.
I uploaded this activity as a Word document so you can edit the numbers to better fit the needs of your students.
