Looking for a fun way to review a difficult skill and integrate some art skills (with a little bit of scale drawing to boot!)? Dividing fractions always seems to be a skill that my students struggle with. To help take the tedium out of practicing this skill, I've integrated a favorite activity from my childhood. Students solve problems involving division with fractions that have been placed next to pieces of a picture that need to be enlarged and drawn onto a 4 x 5 grid. Where they draw each piece of the picture depends on the answer to the problem!
If you and your students enjoy this activity, please provide feedback to help me decide whether to pursue making more of this type of activity. Thank you.
