Fun game to review and practice division of fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by fractions. Problems are presented both as word problems and number sentences.
Scavenger Hunts are a great way to get students up and moving around the room. They can also be used as small group work, a center, or an incentive for fast-finishers!
- Instructions for the Teacher
- Scavenger Hunt Riddle Page (student handout)
- 21 Task cards with problems to solve
Copy one Scavenger Hunt Riddle Page for each student. (I made these half-sheets to help save paper).
Copy one set of Scavenger Hunt Task Cards. I like to put these on brightly colored paper to help make them a bit easier to find.
Place the Scavenger Hunt Task Cards around your classroom. This can either be in obvious places, or for an extra challenge, you can “hide” some of the cards.
How to Play the Game
Students can begin at any card.
Students solve the problem on the task card.
They find the answer to the problem on the riddle sheet.
Students then place the letter from the task card above the answer to the problem on the riddle sheet.
After students have solved every problem correctly, the letters connected to the answers should spell out the answer to the riddle.
