A matrix is an excellent way for students to practice the steps involved in math problems. This matrix walks students step by step through the process of solving division problems involving mixed numbers. In each problem students are reminded to change mixed numbers into into improper fractions, skip, flip, and multiply, cross cancel, and simplify. Students will feel success at the completion of this assignment while cementing in the processes needed for future success. Teachers are able to quickly monitor student progress and spot detailed misconceptions. A matrix is great for warm-ups, homework, classwork, and math centers.
This matrix follows nicely with my Dividing Fractions Matrix.
