Product Description
I have a FREE worksheet on TPT that supports this lesson!

This power point begins by defining what a syllable is and how each syllable in a word must have a vowel sound. This concept is followed by practice in hearing the syllables in various words. Next, the rule of dividing between consonants is presented as well as a discussion of cvc syllables and r controlled syllables.. Finally, students practice dividing and reading both real and make believe words applying what they have learned. The power point presentation ends with an exit ticket asking students to divide 8 words into syllables.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.4.3.A
Use combined knowledge of all letter-sound correspondences, syllabication patterns, and morphology (e.g., roots and affixes) to read accurately unfamiliar multisyllabic words in context and out of context.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.5.3.A
Use combined knowledge of all letter-sound correspondences, syllabication patterns, and morphology (e.g., roots and affixes) to read accurately unfamiliar multisyllabic words in context and out of context.

I try to create power points for my students that are not overly busy. I think too much "stuff" distracts from their learning. Slides also have an arrow that appears when any animation on the slide is done and it is time to move to the next slide. Some slides also have "teacher notes" on the bottom.

Please let me know if you come across any typos or issues. I have read and reread items many times. But sometimes I miss something. If there is an error, I will promptly correct it!
