Product Description
Too often our students forget or make mistakes when utilizing the multiply by the reciprocal “trick” for dividing with fractions. Even worse, they have no idea why they are multiplying in a division problem. Finding the common denominator eliminates these issues and builds on the foundational modeling. It also reinforces finding equivalent fractions with common denominators from adding and subtracting.
This lesson introduces students to dividing with fractions by finding the common denominator. It includes two worked examples, four problems for scaffolded instruction, and nine independent practice problems. Dividing fractions using the common denominator makes modeling easy. The key is provided.
