I use this material as an introductory activity for division of whole numbers in my 5th grade math class. Students work each set of problems on a calculator then discuss in cooperative groups the pattern they find. The next slide has at least one larger number to try the pattern rule to see if it works. We create a list of the divisibility rules as a class through the investigation. After viewing, we create a foldable in our math journal with the divisibility rules for students to reference in the future.
