Product Description
For students transitioning from multiplication to long division, this mini lesson teaches the concepts involved via an interest-catching way. By using objects inside a "house", the student counts the number of divisor-"sets" within the dividend. Counting "by sets" creates an easy transfer from multiplication to division. The number of "sets" is placed on the "roof" of the "house", and the "left-over" number placed in a "flower pot" outside. In this way, the student starts immediately to recognize the concept of a "remainder". Steps from one page to the next repeat the process so that beginning students learn easily. Created for her students, this is another product by Debra A. Boyle, M.Ed.
