I will be able to divide four digit numbers by one digit.
The step up from simple division to long division is a challenge for my students.
I created these task cards as a way to have the opportunity for a lot of repetition. I like to mix things up and task cards are a way to do that. These task cards can used as an early finisher, as a scoot game, or as a center.
I recently projected these on an interactive white board. I gave my students white boards and challenged them to beat me. Of course, I had to even the playing field so I walked a lap around the classroom between steps. When I solved the problem, they’d show their boards and I would count the number of students that had completed the problem. This provided those students that were nervous to copy what I was doing until they were confident enough to try it on their own. By the end, they were all beating me and asked me to put a star on the board for each problem they all got right.
