As students begin to understand the concept of division and learn how to interpret a remainder, they need lots of practice with the standard algorithm. No matter which division strategy they use, these task cards are a great alternative to worksheets to help them master division computation! All problems included a three digit dividend and one digit divisor.
These task cards can be used in many ways. You can begin by simply displaying the file on your interactive whiteboard and solving each problem together, working step-by-step through the standard algorithm. Once students become adept at this, I let students work on the task cards independently. They also love to create their own set of task cards to add to these! In addition, my students love to use task cards in a scavenger hunt or to play Scoot. I also have task cards as one of my centers every week. Other ideas include hole punching the task cards, putting them on a ring, and placing them in a basket for early finishers or independent workers. They also make great review and test prep activities to keep skills sharp throughout the year.
For paperless classrooms, these task cards can easily be used in a digital setting. Share the PDF with your students in Google Classroom, Dropbox, SeeSaw, ClassKick, AirDrop, and more. Create a quick Google form for students to submit answers to you. There are so many other great ideas…if you search online for “paperless options for task cards”, you will be so inspired!
