This set includes twelve division word problems. For each word problem students will show the answer as groups of, an array, jumps on a number line, an equation and in a sentence.
Using multiple strategies to find and show the answer helps students to visualize and understand how and why division works.
These come with two word problem versions of number lines. One with numbers and one without for students to fill out.
All the word problems in this set have dividends of 100 or less.
Developing understanding of division strategies is one of the four critical areas for third grade math instruction according to the Common Core standards. The standards expect students to solve word problems using equal groups, arrays, drawings and equations (3.OA.A.3). These word problems will help students meet this standard while preparing them to use the area model later on. Plus, they have some cute graphics and my kids really enjoy doing them!
