These notes are intended to begin teaching or reteaching division with two-digit divisors. Begin by discussing the prerequisite skills for which the students should be familiar. The related TEKS standards are listed for 4th grade (what they should know), 5th grade (what they will learn), and 6th grade (what this will lead to in the future). These notes include 3 prerequisite assessment questions to establish what students remember and if any reteaching is necessary before moving on. Then a brief discussion and 4 examples to complete together. The 4th example has a quotient that goes into the tenths place. This can start the discussion for dividing with decimals or you may wish to skip that example and save that topic for later.
