This is a packet to accompany the game Don't Break the Ice!
The squares fit on top of the ice cubes, so kids can practice saying their sounds as they play.
There are cards included for the following sounds: /r, s, z, l, k, g, f, v, sh, ch, dz, th, s-blends, l-blends, r-blends/.
Directions to get ready:
Print on cardstock and laminate for durability.
Cut out all squares.
Attach velcro to the top of each ice cube (I used velcro stickers).
Attach the other side of the velco to the back of each square
Set up game as directed with the desired squares attached to the ice cubes.
Here are some suggested ways to play:
Play the game as directed. For each fallen ice cube, the student must say the word (5 times, in a sentence, using their fluency strategy, etc.)
The student has to say the word each time they tap the ice cube.
They can say “I went sledding and brought a…” and the list can go on as they collect ice cubes.
Let them make up silly stories or sentences with the words they collect.

Note: I am not associated with Hasbro and the name Don't Break the Ice is trademarked.
