A graphic organizer that I came up with after reading "How I Became A Pirate" by, Melinda Long
--Read the story.
--Give 10-30 seconds of sit and think time.
--Ask students to talk to their partner about the book. (or if you do not have enough students talk as a group)
--Then as a group make a list of reasons why you like or don't like pirates!
--Send it home with students so they can retell the story and talk about the reasons they like or don't like pirates!
