Sometimes when learners are asked "Do you understand the work?", they are sometimes shy or don't want to say that they don't understand the work in front of their peers.
This is a nice activity that requires no extra work or time. What I find best is, I made many many copies at the beginning of the year and I put about 50 of these cut-outs in a bank bag and I handed it to the learners. They keep it and at any given moment, they can take one out and stick in in when asked to do so.
I like to use this when I introduce a new topic so that I have an idea of how difficult this section will be, I also use this when ending a section/topic so that I know we are all on the same page.
