Since my childhood years, I have always enjoyed such simple craft as making ornaments out of old and used cards :0). When I saw different types of book reports created as a Dodecahedron, it made me think of those memories :0).
I have created my own Dodecahedron "Chester the Worldly Pig" by Bill Peet Book Walk/ Book Study/ Book Report. It took me about six to eight months to develop such idea. I wanted to use Common Core Standards, higher order questions, research based approach. Yes, this Dodecahedron has the elements of the Book Report. It was mostly geared towards the STUDY and the CLOSE READ of "Chester the Worldly Pig" book.
You will notice that every face of Dodecahedron covers different reading strategies. It touches upon the character study, character summary, plot, sequence, author's point of view. The students will be encouraged to express their view points about the book, give recommendations.
I am truly excited!!! You will notice that the reading strategy circles will have no backdrop designs. The students are focused on the research of the content of the book. The circles that are more Book Report style will provide the students with the opportunities for creativity.
Enjoy!!! I love Bill Peet and especially this story :0). Chester is an unusual character. I wanted this Book Study or Book Walk be a little unusual too for the students to remember :0)
