Included in this package are 16 differentiated mazes. They each have a dog at the beginning and a cat at the end and can be used for work on position and direction. A black line version and vocabulary cards have also been included.
The progression of skills and understanding could be:
Give directions using vocabulary such as left, right, up, down.
Give directions using angle turns such as a quarter turn to the left.
Give directions using compass points such as turn to north.
Give directions using angle turns using degrees such as 90⁰ clockwise
The task cards have been differentiated and coloured especially for those who use the mild, hot, spicy coding system within their teaching.
They could be used for the following objectives in the English National Curriculum:
Year 1: Describe position, direction and movement, including whole, half, quarter and three-quarter turns
Year 2: Use mathematical vocabulary to describe position, direction and movement, including movement in a straight line and distinguishing between rotation as a turn and in terms of right angles for quarter, half and three-quarter turns (clockwise and anti-clockwise)
