Do you find it difficult to teach students about the concept of earning money, saving, and spending it responsibly? Do you find that students tend to want tangible rewards instead of intrinsic rewards?
Well, in an effort to instill a hard work ethic, I created Dog Dollars. Every day in my classroom, students try to earn Dog Dollars based on classroom rules established by the students. Students may purchase rewards with money earned; they also pay fines for classroom infractions.
Additionally, for those students who find it difficult to follow our class rules, they can earn “Extra Credit” Dog Dollars by completing challenges at home.
In this packet, you will find an overview of Dog Dollars, the actual Dog Dollar $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, $50.00, and $100.00 bills, fine chart, and reward chart.
