Color a dog and a dog house, attach the paper to a pencil or straw, and spin. You'll see the dog sits in front of its dog house - it's an easy illusion
that students will ♥ love ♥ .
This activity requires very basic materials (paper, crayons, tape, a pencil or straw) and just a few minutes to complete. It can easily be extended if students want to draw their own illusions. I included a blank page for this purpose!
I've included a video
that shows you how to make an illusion and two videos
of an illusion as it spins - one close to the camera and one farther away. Does the distance make a difference in how well the illusion works? Does it matter if you color it with bright or dark colors? What if you spin it slowly or quickly?
Here are the spinning illusions in my store: Bird in a Cage FREEBIE
, a Dog in front of a Dog House
, a Butterfly resting on a Flower
, and a Fish in a Fish Bowl
. I've even created a BUNDLE
with four different choices to save you 50%
