Welcome to winter! How adorable are these dogs in sweaters! We create these with oil pastels and liquid tempera, but the lesson also includes directions for working with tempera cakes or opaque watercolors.
Students learn how to draw one of six different dogs: a Scottie, Labrador retriever, dachshund, greyhound, boxer, or corgi. Children love having lots of choices, and the project provides directions on how to teach the drawing step to younger and older children.
The lesson includes a handout of the six dogs and a handout with 15 ideas for sweater designs, giving kids some practice creating a pattern out of lines and shapes.
My kids love creating these dogs in sweaters and I hope yours do, too.
Time Required: 90 minutes.
The 22-page project includes:
-Project Overview + Learning Objectives
-Detailed Photo Tutorial
-Tempera Cake Option
-How to Draw a Scottie, Labrador Retriever, Dachshund, Greyhound, Boxer, + Corgi
-Handout of Sweater Pattern Ideas
Thanks for checking out the lesson! I teach art to children in Westchester, New York. My passion is creating art projects my students love and sharing them with you.
