This is a 10 week course, teaching the Dolch First words and their meanings.
Packed with fun slides, games, activities and quizzes, these PowerPoints are a fun way to help children to read, understand and use the 41 Dolch First Sight words, unlocking meaning within the books they enjoy.

HOW DO I USE THEM?
I use each PPT across two 40-minute classes.
In the first class, I guide the students through the Words, Sentences, Games and Activities, asking questions and leading discussions as we go. I might add in a song or two, or create a mini story together with the children if we have 5 mins left at the end of the class.
In the second class, we have the Fun Quiz! There are 10 sentences in each quiz, which are revealed on screen on each click. Each sentence is missing a word, one of teh Dolch words, and the students must choose the correct one. I read each sentence a number of times, firstly with the blank evident, then I read it with each of the Dolch words. After the 10 questions, students exchange books and I run through the answers on screen, reading the correct sentences to the students. I usually reward the students who score 10/10.
After the quiz, I ask the students to copy sentences 1-4/5, one sentence for each Dolch Word. Students then create their own sentences, and I traverse the room ensuring the high-frequency words are used correctly.
For a quick plenary, I ask a selection of students to read some of their new sentences to the class.
I review the new Dolch words each day for a few minutes using the QUICK REVIEW PPT, and ask a few questions to reinforce their understanding.
The PowerPoints are suitable for all ages, Primary, Kindergarten or Middle/Secondary schools.
