Sight words can be difficult for children to memorize, especially if they do not make sense phonetically. To give my kiddos an edge I provide different activities to help them learn. In addition to flash cards and bingo games I use this file folder game, it includes all 52 Pre-Primer Dolch Sight Words.
To assemble this game print out all 5 pages. I like to mount page one to the front of my file folder as a way to find the game quickly. I mount this page to the back of the file folder for reference. Pages 3 and 4 are the pages for the inside of the file folder. Page 5 holds the game pieces. Once trimmed all items may be covered with clear contact paper, or laminated for durability.
How to Play the Game……
A child, or several children choose a game card with a sight word. They read the sight word then match it to the identical word on the game board. Once all words are correctly matched, the game is finished.
I like to keep the game pieces in an envelope that I Velcro to the folder. Happy playing!
