Second Grade Dolch Sight Word Games
This product is one of four components of the Dolch Sight Word Resources I have created and used for many years. It gives
students the opportunity to practice reading the Dolch Second Grade Sight Words while having fun playing a game
The method I use to teach Dolch Second Grade Sight Words divides the 44 words into 4 groups of five words and 4 groups of six words. The games in this packet focus on these subgroups of words. Each game is labeled (2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 2-7, or 2-8) to identify which group the words are part of.
I use the games as a review tool after students have worked with the words and are having some success identifying the words.
Each group of sight words has its own game board with colorful graphics your students will love.
To prepare the game boards, I make copies of both sides of a game board and glue them inside a colored file folder. I also make a copy of the corresponding words and cut them apart.
To play the game students will need a token to advance around the board. There are several options for students to move around the board. The word cards may be placed in a pile facedown and students would draw a card. If they can read the word they move to that word on the path. Another option would be for students to roll a die and move that many spaces. In order to stay on the spot, they would have to read the word. First student to the end
of the path wins.

Each group of words, except for group 2-8,
appears on two sets of Wordo cards. This allows students to continue to practice the sight words previously taught.
To prepare the game make copies of the Wordo cards and the corresponding word cards. (Two sets of word cards will be needed for the 2-1 Wordo cards because some words were used twice on the Wordo cards.)
To play the game each student will need a WORDO card. The word cards are placed in a pile facedown. Then players take turns choosing a card and reading the word. Then all players check their cards to find the word. If the word is on their card they place a marker on the word. The first student to cover
