Trans-disciplinary worksheets for use in the classroom, or as homework! Have students practice reading and writing pre-primer Dolch words as they create their own word searches for their parents. Then, students will use scramble letter values to create mathematics sentences, and totaling their sums.

Dolch pre-primer list is broken up into a few different ways:

First, students can split the 40 pre-primer words in half, completing 2 20 pre-made word searches, and 2 blank word searches the students create as homework for their parents. Once students complete this, challenge them to finding all 40 pre-primer words in 1 word search and fit all 40 pre-primer words into 1 homework word search puzzle. Every student's dream is to make their parents do homework and to correct it before bringing it in to you! Let your students know they can grade their parents' efforts and see the smiles spread across your whole classroom!

To really push student understanding of their Dolch words, have students complete the scramble word math pages, where each word will be written down once, then a mathematics sentence representing the letter values of the sight word is made, before the students find the sum. This activity not only pushes student's math abilities but also reinforces sight word acquisition!

{{if you have any students whose family support is less than ideal, photocopy the homework before sending it home, and ask a co-worker to do it with them!}}

Easily scaffold your students through different levels of sight word fun!

Included in this file:
A list of Kindergarten standards easily covered with these activities
