I use these checklists as quick sight word assessments. This document includes 4 Dolch sight words lists- Pre-primer, primer, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade.
I have each of my students go through the list with me about every other week and they check off the words they can read as they go. I put the day of the assessment in the box at the top of the column and total words read at the bottom. We don't always go in order! Sometimes I randomly point to words until we go through them all. Having the students check off the words they can read themselves gives them a sense of ownership over their own learning. They (and I) can also see which words they're consistently able to read and which ones have no checks and need more practice/instruction.
For older kids, you could even have students pair up during stations and assess each other!
I put these in my students' personal data folders. My students love being able to visually see the checkmarks of how their reading is improving and it makes data collection easy for me! I hope you enjoy it too! Leave a review and let me know how you used these checklists and what you thought of them!!
