This game was created for students that need intensive work on sight words, although all students would enjoy playing it. The game is meant for one child at a time to play with an adult. As a child says the sight word correctly, a vertical line is drawn through the box or the entire box can be colored in. When a word is missed, the box is left blank. At the bottom of the column the total words correct for that day is listed. The goal is to increase the number correct by at least one each day.
There are enough "tries" on this game for a student to be successful. If not, you will need to use a new sheet. Once a child has gone down the row getting all words correct, he has received a Sight Word Bingo. Words that are missed are put into the Word Hospital which is attached. The Word Hospital beds are created in such a way as the teacher can decide how many "checks" will go on each hospital bed before that word can be checked out of the hospital. The Word Hospital words can also be written in sand, salt, clay, or with shaving cream. They can be written with chalk on the playground. Additionally, I usually put the words missed on a spinner for additional practice. This game page serves as documentation on the efforts being made by the child.
This set includes TWO word lists for each of the following levels:
