Selecting the words to use as stimuli for students with articulation delays or disorders can be a struggle because so many traditional articulation cards include words that are not meaningful to the student, are fringe vocabulary words, or are not words they are learning in their classrooms.

I went through all of 315 Dolch Words including the 95 noun sight words and did a phonetic analysis. Dolch Words are the high frequency sight words that many teachers use in the classroom when they are teaching students reading. I separated the words into groups by place and manner of articulation. Then I selected appropriate individual image for each word. This was a project that has taken me months!

These words are highly recognizable to students and are meaningful within the classroom setting. Please note that there is wide variability with the amount of flashcards due to the constraints of the Dolch Words themselves. For example, there are a lot of K & G words, but not as many voiceless TH sounds.

Sight words are usually taught by the classroom teacher without pictures. However, my students have benefited with a corresponding picture when learning new words. By using these articulation cards in therapy, your therapy will help your student learn how to read at the same time as they improve their speech sound articulation.

I've noticed that my students who have articulation deficits usually make substantial improvements in their production of speech sounds as they learn how to read. This product will accelerate their progress in speech therapy and their knowledge of the most common sight words they encounter in the classroom.

I'm so excited to launch this resource into the world because I truly believe it will make a difference because there is nothing out there like it!
