Welcome to “Dollar Deals”! These resources are no frills, ready to use stations, centers, lessons, and activities. Each is only a dollar because there are no “frills” or extras. Hope you find them useful!
The rules for this place value game are simple! Students are dealt 5 number cards to keep in their hand at all times. On each turn, students flip a challenge card and each student checks their number cards to see if they can meet the challenge. If they can meet the challenge, they earn a point. On some turns, all players may meet the challenge—or NONE may meet the challenge! It’s all in the cards!
Simply shuffle the deck of number cards and give each player 5 to start. Students take turns flipping a challenge card. All students check their 5 cards and try to build a 4 digit number that fits the challenge. If they do, they earn a point. Some challenges will have only one winner—others can have multiple point earners. Record points on the recording sheet. Set those 4 cards aside and draw 4 new cards to use for the next turn. When you run out of number cards, simply shuffle the used ones and add them back into the pile. The game can continue for a certain amount of time or until a player has a certain number of points. Just make sure the ending point is set before the game begins!
