In this highly-engaging, Common Core focused lesson, students analyze Dolley Madison's contribution to American History in the War of 1812. Students investigate Madison's letters to her sister to understand perspective and reflection! This source is designed with "check-ins" to prevent the dreaded overload that can happen to students when sources are too complex. Students can discuss along the way as they learn the purpose of her source! Finally, students answer five analytical questions that force each child to reflect upon their values, heroes, and inspirations.
