Guided Notes Worksheet:

My Domestic Violence guided-notes worksheet (2 pages) may be used on its own or with my 23-slide Domestic Violence PowerPoint. The PowerPoint and guided-notes could be used alone or as part of a larger unit on the topic of domestic violence. I use my PowerPoint and guided-notes as part of a larger unit including guest speakers and a service-learning project. This resource makes a great study guide as well. If you choose to use the worksheet on its own, links to online resources are included on the worksheet.

This resource includes two versions of the guided-notes worksheet including the version I give my students.

This worksheet is intended to be used with Leslie Morgan Steiner's TED Talk, "Why Domestic Violence Victims Don't Leave." It is appropriate for most high school-level Social Studies, Health, Life Skills, or Service Learning classes.

The video, worksheet, and class discussion (recommended) can be completed in one class period. I often use this resource as part of a unit on domestic violence. In my Life Skills and Service learning classes, I generally devote at least a week to this topic. This lesson, combined with guest speakers and service-learning opportunities can be an incredibly powerful and meaningful education opportunity for most students.

This resource includes a worksheet, answer key and list of key vocabulary terms (flashcards).

This TED Talk worksheet is intended to be used with Jackson Katz' TED Talk, "Violence Against Women- It's a Men's Issue." It is appropriate for most high school-level Psychology, Social Studies, Health, Life Skills, or Service Learning classes.

From TED: Domestic violence and sexual abuse are often called "women’s issues.” But in this bold, blunt talk, Jackson Katz points out that these are intrinsically men’s issues — and shows how these violent behaviors are tied to definitions of manhood. A clarion call for us all — women and men — to call out unacceptable behavior and be leaders of change.
