This pre-test is a great way to gauge students' prior knowledge about the Dominican Republic. Plus, it helps heighten their interest and create a great segway into the lesson. We grade the pre-assessment in class. Students receive a participation grade regardless of how many answers they get right, but the student who has the most correct answers gets extra credit. This encourages them to try and allows me to gauge their prior knowledge. I have also tried grading the pre-test and replacing the score with their post-test grade, which is also effective. This pre-test is multiple choice, in Spanish. It coincides with the information in my DR Powerpoint and Culturegrams activities (available in my shop).
