Subitizing is a great way to build number sense and building a strong foundation for addition and subtraction. This is a great whole group, small group or math center task.

Materials:
Teacher Cards- Large Domino Cards with Red Dots (pages 3-29)
Student Cards- Half Page Domino Cards with Red Dots (pages 30-42)
Blank Domino Arrangement Mat
Recording Sheet

Directions:
Flash the Domino Quick Image Card to the mathematician for 3-5 seconds.
Mathematician builds the exact same image on their blank domino mat.
(may use pennies, chips or other markers to cover the circles)
Mathematician explains how he/she remembered the image.

Example Explanation:
I saw a set of 4 in the top corner.
I saw one more in the bottom corner.

After building the image, have the mathematician identify the amount and explain how he/she knew.
