Don’t Bug Me!
Hands on, Fun, DAP Game for reading and identifying homophones!
Common Core Standard: 2 RF.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
e. Identify words with inconsistent but common spelling sound correspondences.
Student Learning Outcome (SLO): The children will identify homophones.
Materials: Don’t Bug Me Cards
Blank Don’t Bug Me Cards to Add “your own” Homophones
Preparation: On cardstock print, 8 pages of page 10 (‘Don’t Bug Me’ front of cards)
Place paper back in printer, and print pages 2-9 (Spring Characters with homophones)
Laminate, and Cut.
Directions: “Don’t Bug Me!” is the same as “Go Fish!” just a Springtime theme!
1. Deal cards.
2. Player 1 asks, “So and So, Do you have there? Child looks to see if he has the homophone of there (their).
3. If so and so has the homophone, he/she gives to player 1. If not he/she tells Player 1 “Don’t Bug Me!”
and that means pick a card from the pile.
4. Continue with the process until a player has no cards.
