I'm sure you have heard of "Don't Eat Pete!", if not, you are in for a treat. These blank boards allow you to create your own review game with any topic you choose! I have used it for sight words, compound words, contractions, rhyming words, place value/expanded notation, inflectional endings, etc. Two different sized boards are included: 3x4 and 5x5.
Print the game boards onto cardstock. One game board needed per small group. Laminate for multiple uses. Use a white board marker to write words or equations, easily wipes off. Provide small pieces of food to put on each square ie M&M's, Skittles, goldfish, smarties, cereal, etc.

Put a Skittle on each square. Choose one person to be the player and leave the room. The group will then choose one box to be "Pete" and keep it a secret. The player who left will return and begin to correctly identify what is in the box (this will vary depending on the topic you choose to focus on, for example, they would have to read the word in the box), one at a time in any order. If they read the word correctly the group stays quiet and the player gets to take the Skittle off. If they read the word that was secretly chosen to be "Pete" the group says (with expression, not volume), "Don't Eat Pete!" before the player reaches the Skittle. The game is over, and a new player and "Pete" is chosen. Play until everyone has a turn to be the player.
We hope you find this activity fun, educational, helpful, and hip!
