Looking for Library games to use on your SMART Board?
This is a game for identifying the Dewey Decimal numbers of nonfiction books. Students read the title of a book and tap on the insect wearing the correct Dewey Decimal number, using their hand (or…for more fun…a fly swatter). Correct answers result in the insect disappearing with a buzzing sound. There is no feedback for incorrect answers.
This game is somewhat similar to my “Dewey Splat” game, but in this one, students need only identify the general Dewey class (100s, 200s, 300s, etc), not the specific Dewey number. It might be easier for younger students or as a general review for all.
A Dewey chart is included, that you can print out for students, or display on the SMART Board. Although the activity is self-correcting, there is an answer key (on the last page, after THE END…so students shouldn’t see it too readily).
Please rate this activity by leaving feedback. You will earn TpT credits toward future purchases. You can even go back to your "My Purchases" page to leave feedback for previous products."
