Product Description
The Bus Driver asked us to watch things for him, but the Pigeon wants to drive the bus! Should we let him? In this highly interactive story, students will learn Common Core State Standards for Reading Literature 1, 2, 6, 7 and 9, with particular emphasis on RL 6: “Identify who is telling the story at various points in the text.” Our CCSS-aligned text-dependent questions help you model close reading by guiding your students back into the text again and again to find the answers. Enhance your read-aloud time with the included opinion writing activity (CCSS W1) which comes in two parts. Part one: think of three reasons why you would/would not let the pigeon drive the bus; part two: write an opinion paragraph citing your reasons.

Included in this packet:

• Text-dependent questions crafted specifically for this book
• Opinion writing scaffold; example included for teacher reference
• Opinion paragraph; examples included for teacher reference
