Don't Melt Dave!
This cute and fun game is perfect for reviewing as a class or on an individual basis. Can be used on an interactive white board, or from teacher navigation from their desktop station. Use the PDF version for iPad or Chromebook stations!
Included with the game is a companion sheet. The directions allow you to use the page for students to write the pitch names that correspond to the game slides. There is a small number in the bottom left corner of each prompt in the game to help you keep track of where you are, but not taking away from the game by being overly noticeable if you choose not to use the companion sheet.
The game begins with a short review (or even learning opportunity) for lines and spaces, reading pitches on the treble staff, and a couple slides explaining how to play the game. After the review and directions, there are 36 question prompts (four cycles of all nine pitches on the staff).
If a student answers correctly, a slide will appear that says "Correct! Dave's cool. ...for now. Let's make sure he stays that way."
If a student answers incorrectly, a slide will appear with an adorably melted Dave that says "Oh no! Dave melted. Try again! Dave's counting on you!
At the end of the 36 prompts, there is a congratulations slide. At this point, the student is finished with the initial game, but there is a button to tap to start the game again should you choose.
***If using the PowerPoint version of the game, you will need to start the slideshow/presentation. The hyperlinks from slide to slide will not work unless the slideshow is started. To learn more, click here.
Using a Mac and want to use Keynote? Awesome! You can convert the PowerPoint file into a Keynote file by right-clicking the PPT file and selecting "open with > Keynote."
***If using PDF, Adobe Reader or Acrobat is recommended, but other PDF softwares (like Preview for Mac) should work just as well. You can download Adobe Reader for free here.
***Although this file will work with a SMARTboard, there are no SMARTboard files included, only PowerPoint and PDF.
