“Don’t Say It!” is a great game for middle and high school math classrooms. Combining vocabulary review, fast-paced competition, and English Language Arts skills, this review game is sure to be a favorite among students. It’s a great tool for focus groups, supplemental learning and study, test prep, or free learning classroom time. Simply cut out each unit of vocabulary review, and get ready for educationally-profitable fun.
Math is a cumulative subject, and there is some overlap between courses. Each set includes all original vocabulary cards, so there will be multiple copies of select terms. This is to facilitate use among several different classes, and maintain color sorting from independent sets.
Students divide into two teams, sitting every other person. One player must get his teammates to guess the word on the top of the card WITHOUT using any of the prohibited words listed below. Once the word has been guessed correctly, that same player advances to the next card until time is up. (1 or 2 minutes per round is a good time.) The team with the most points at the end wins! Helpful extras can be a timer and a buzzer or bell to signal a team member using a prohibited word.
This game packet is intended for use in a single classroom. If you would like to share with a colleague, please direct them to my TpT store or purchase additional licenses for them.
