This unit provides three coordinating lessons to use with Don't Squeal Unless It's A Big Deal.
Students read the story and discuss the "It's a Big Deal if..." portion. They color the Blood finger red, the Dangerous finger yellow, the Fire finger orange, the Throwing Up finger green, and the Stranger finger blue. Students can then discuss that these are five scenarios when it's okay to "squeal" to a teacher about what's going on.
Students complete the Don't Squeal Coloring Activity Page. The teacher reads the scenario and the students decide whether it's a squeal or a big deal. If it's a squeal, the students color the pig. If it's a big deal, they do not color a pig. This continues until all the pigs on the path to the barn are colored.
Students complete the Don't Squeal Cutting Activity Page. They decide whether each situation is a squeal or a big deal. They cut and paste the situation in the appropriate box.
