DoodleLoops About Me: Expansion Pages is a digital-only supplement to DoodleLoops About Me: Just for Kids! The Expansion Pages provide discussion topics, activities and recommended literature selections intended primarily for the classroom, but most can be easily adapted for use outside the school setting.
The Expansion pages offer ideas for extending children’s experiences. Each page contains three sections: Discussion Topics, Activities and Related Literature. Discussion Topics correspond with what the “Doodle” is saying on each of the children’s pages. For example, the Doodle on the “Title and Dedication” page of the main/Diary edition gives the following message: “You are very special. Be proud that you are you!” Expansion Page discussion topics for this page suggest that you and your children discuss what the Doodle is saying, share examples of reasons why the children can be proud of themselves, and then have the children share what they think makes them special and unique.
The Activities correspond with the topic on each student page. These activities may be in any curricular area, such as language arts, social studies, science, math, art and so on. There are numerous activities listed. However, it is up to you to choose activities you feel are most appropriate for your children and are best suited for your time frame. These sections are rich in activities that can be integrated into your entire curriculum. The Related Literature section suggests books (from pre-Kindergarten to fourth grade) that correlate with the topic on each student page. These books may be read to the students or by the students, depending on their ability levels. Some of the titles have suggestions for related activities.
